Clayton Equipment Ltd shunts into electric future

A Class above.... Next generation shunting locomotives. The first of fifteen innovative Clayton Equipment emission free, Class 18 hybrid+ CBD90 locomotives, has been delivered to Chasewater Railway for testing for our customer Beacon Rail Leasing.

The 90-tonne Bo-Bo locomotive, is self contained, with onboard batteries that can be charged through either a three-phase electric supply or an onboard diesel engine which meets European Union Stage V emissions standards.

"Beacon Rail has extensive rail asset expertise which will help ensure the two companies maximise the potential to supply our customer base with sustainable, low-emissions, environmentally-compliant equipment".

It's an extremely busy but very exciting time at Clayton Equipment. The second Clayton hybrid CBD90 + locomotive for Beacon Rail Leasing is well underway and the frame for the third locomotive has just been delivered.
